Personnel Biographies
|
Terry Shaw grew up on a farm in central Iowa and obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Terry has over 20 years of underwriting and management experience in commercial agribusiness insurance. His work encompasses a wide variety of agribusiness ranging from traditional agribusiness classes such as farm cooperatives to some of the larger food processing and distributing businesses in the United States. Terry obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and has earned CPCU, AIM, AU and FLMI insurance designations.
Terry became the president of Berkley Agribusiness Risk Specialists (BARS) in 2009. Terry lives in Madrid, Iowa with his wife, Amy and two children. |

Brad London, Senior Vice President |
Brad London grew up in Nebraska and Iowa, graduating from Iowa State University with a BBA in marketing in 1993 and has earned his CPCU and AU insurance designations. Brad has 15 years of insurance experience, including 13 years in commercial insurance. His commercial insurance experience includes various underwriting capacities at one of the nation’s largest writers of churches and schools and several underwriting and management roles with a national commercial agribusiness carrier.
Brad joined Terry and Brad Waline in founding Berkley Agribusiness Risk Specialists in 2009. His responsibilities with BARS include underwriting and claims. Brad, his wife, Erin, and their three children have made their home in Waukee, IA for the past 15 years. |

Brad Waline, Senior Vice President |

Brad Waline is a native Iowan from Toledo, Iowa. He has worked in the insurance business for 13 years, 11 of them in commercial agribusiness insurance for a national carrier. Brad has underwritten in all areas of the United States and on a wide variety of agribusiness accounts including large regional cooperatives. Brad graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1983 and has earned his CPCU and AU insurance designations.
Brad’s responsibilities at BARS include underwriting and risk control. He lives in Story City, IA with his wife, Karen and two children. |

Tony Hudnutt, Vice President – Claims |
|
Tony is a native Iowan and grew up near Altoona, Iowa. He worked on a large commercial farm through high school and college and graduated in 1986 from Iowa State University with an Agribusiness degree. He has twenty-three years of commercial claims and management experience, thirteen with a large national commercial carrier and ten with a commercial agribusiness carrier. He has obtained a SCLA designation along with various other legal and insurance coursework. His work has encompassed handling and managing departments dealing with large and complex claims as well as working closely with large commercial accounts needing specialized claim handling. Tony's responsibilities at BARS include oversight of all claims handling as well as working closing with the underwriting and loss control departments. He has three adult children and lives on an acreage outside of Indianola, Iowa. |

Al Tweeten, Vice President – Risk Control |
Al has 24 years of property and casualty loss control experience, including 12 years of commercial agribusiness loss control experience.
Al earned his BS in Occupational Safety from Iowa State University. He has also obtained his CPCU, ARM, ALCM insurance designations. Al has previously worked as a Regional Safety Specialist for a large regional farm cooperative and a loss control consultant and supervisor for an agribusiness insurer. Al most recently worked for GuideOne Insurance as a loss control manager.
Al’s responsibilities with BARS include developing the BARS risk control program and looking for ways to tap into the Berkley organization’s loss control services and talents. Al, his wife, Donna, and their five children reside in Waukee, IA. |

Lonnie Sims, Risk Control Consultant |
Lonnie has 15 years of commercial property and casualty loss control experience. Lonnie most recently worked for Liberty Mutual as a senior loss control consultant.
Lonnie’s agribusiness background began as a child working and showing livestock. He also worked at wheat and cattle farms including the Oklahoma State University Dairy while he was earning his degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering. While at Liberty, Lonnie worked with a variety of commercial customers including large agribusiness accounts.
Lonnie has earned his CSP, ARM designations. Lonnie’s responsibilities with BARS include providing risk control surveys and services to prospects and customers. Lonnie, his wife, Lea Ann, and their daughter make Tulsa, OK their home. |

David Heger, Operations Manager |
David Heger joined BARS in 2009 after spending 10 years in commercial insurance, most recently as an underwriting manager for a commercial agribusiness insurer. David was raised in Des Moines and graduated from the University of Iowa. He has received his CPCU and AIS insurance designations. He has a broad range of experience in commercial agribusiness including food processing and distributing accounts.
David is the Operations Manager for BARS. Besides underwriting duties, David is responsible for pulling together various underwriting and processing systems and is a liaison for BARS to the various Berkley insurance companies.
David lives in Des Moines with his wife and six children. |

Mark S. Johnson, Agronomy Claims Manager |

Berkley Agribusiness Risk Specialists is excited to announce that Mark S. Johnson has joined us as an Agronomy Claims Manager. Mark joins BARS after spending many years in the seed industry. Mark has worked as a field agronomist, plant manager, district sales manager and as a technical support agronomist in the seed industry as well as head of a crop consulting department of a national company where he had agronomists in several states. He has extensive experience in classroom and in-field teaching of crop physiology & development as well as service call procedures. He has taught sales people how to investigate service calls and determine causes of crop problems. Mark is an Iowa State University graduate earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education and his Masters of Science degree in Agronomy. He is a Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) and a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA). Mark is also a member of the American Society of Agronomy. Mark’s responsibilities with BARS will include agronomy claims management, agronomy loss control and technical support for BARS insureds. Mark and his wife, Kathy, live in Ankeny, IA. They have three grown children. |
